There’s no denying that picking up a Starbucks coffee on your morning commute is a wonderful way to start the day. We’re sure that everyone has their go-to order, whether it be a simple iced coffee or one of the beloved featured drinks that Starbucks obsessives mark their calendars for.
Don’t get us wrong, we love a Sugar Cookie Latte as much as the next person, but we’d be remiss if we let you overlook some of the best items available at the coffee chain—the food.
Some people are partial to the bakery loaves, others (including Savannah Guthrie) to the sandwiches, but one of the most popular items on the Starbucks menu is the Egg Bites. We’re talking so popular that even some of our writers have spent time trying to crack the code on what makes them so great.
But just when we figured out how to make the Bacon and Gruyere Egg Bites at home—and discovered that you can buy them at Costco—Starbucks released a new flavor that will have us pulling into the drive-thru ASAP.
Starbucks 2024 Winter Menu
Starbucks launched its winter menu on Jan. 3, and in addition to a new Iced Shaken Hazelnut Oatmilk Espresso and the return of its fan-favorite Pistachio Latte and Pistachio Cream Cold Brew, the chain introduced brand new Potato, Cheddar, & Chive Bakes.
The new “Bakes” are a little different from the original Egg Bites as they’re baked instead of cooked sous vide-style. However, they have similar ingredients, including cage-free eggs, Cheddar cheese, diced potatoes, spinach, and chives. The only real difference is that they won’t have a light, custardy texture, but rather a texture more similar to a quiche or breakfast casserole. And, with the addition of potatoes, they’ll likely be a little bit heartier than the OG Egg Bites.

The winter menu also introduces a new pastry item, a Vanilla Bean Custard Danish. Considering that Starbucks customers love the holiday Sugar Plum Cheese Danish—and the plain Cheese Danish that’s available all year—it’s safe to say they’ll probably enjoy this new Danish filled with rich vanilla bean custard.
Finally, on the food side, Starbucks has officially added its Chicken, Maple Butter, & Egg Sandwich, which it began testing in 2022, to the permanent menu.

Starbucks
For the drink menu, Starbucks is bringing back its fan-loved Pistachio Latte and Pistachio Cream Cold Brew for a limited time. It’s also expanding its incredibly popular Iced Shaken Espresso lineup, which originally featured the Iced Brown Sugar Oatmilk Shaken Espresso, Iced Shaken Espresso, and Oleato Iced Shaken Espresso with Oatmilk and Toffeenut (at select locations). The winter menu will add an Iced Hazelnut Oatmilk Shaken Espresso, which is a Shaken Blonde Espresso with hazelnut syrup and oat milk.
For those of you who haven’t had enough of the Starbucks holiday menu just yet, there’s no need to worry. For now, the winter menu will be available alongside the holiday lineup—so there’s still time to grab your Gingerbread Latte before it’s gone for the season.
Starbucks Launched a New Collaboration With Stanley
While new menu launches are like our Super Bowl, this isn’t the only exciting news coming from Starbucks this week. On Jan. 3, Starbucks teamed up with Stanley (yes, the Stanley) to release a limited-edition “Winter Pink” tumbler at Target. Not only did the $49.95 tumbler sell out in less than a day, but it also created madness at Target stores nationwide.
Customers waited in line for hours just to grab one—or as many as their Target store allowed—and TikTok videos even showed customers physically fighting over the tumblers. Think early ‘00s Black Friday, but over one single Stanley tumbler.
The Starbucks Stanley tumblers were a limited launch, so they’re sold out permanently, but people are already selling them secondhand online for hundreds of dollars.
The good news, however, is that, unlike these Stanley tumblers, we’re pretty sure the new potato egg bakes are going to stick around for a while. But, just to be safe, we’re going to head to Starbucks now.
